OGLESBY — Cheryl Roelfsema, Illinois Valley Community College Vice President for Business Services and Finance, has earned the designation of Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO).
“This is an outstanding achievement in the career of any public finance officer,” said Jeffrey L. Esser, Government Finance Officers Association Executive Director. “The (award) is indicative of her dedication to the profession and to public service.”
To earn the CPFO designation, Roelfsema, of rural Marseilles, demonstrated knowledge of public finance by passing five, four-hour examinations representing: governmental accounting, auditing and financial reporting; cash management and investments; debt management; operating and capital budgeting; and pension and benefits, risk management and procurement. To maintain the designation, she will participate in 30 hours of continuing professional education each year.
