Area duo compete in Big I tournament
PEKIN — Ladd’s Nick Rounds and Princeton’s Collin Slattery competed in this week’s Trusted Choice Big “I” State golf tournament at Lick Creek Golf Course in Pekin. Rounds started with an 89 Wednesday. He then shaved off 15 strokes on his second day scorecard, scoring a 74 on Thursday. Rounds tournament total of 163 was good for 33rd place in the 60-man field.
Slattery turned in a card of 85 on Wednesday and improved to shoot an 84 for the second round of the tournament. His total of 169 put him in a tie for 44th.
Both golfers qualified for the tournament by finishing in the top 10 of qualifying tournament held at Spring Creek Golf Course in Spring Valley in June.
