By Chris Yucus - cyucus@bcrnews.com

The IHSA recently released the schedules for the 2009 prep football campaign. Here’s a look at who area gridiron gangs will take on when the season kicks off Aug. 28.

Amboy-LaMoille

The Clippers will kick off their schedule, which consists entirely of Big Rivers conference opponents, on the road against River Valley, which will be playing its final season as a member of the conference.

The Clippers co-op will then host home contests against St. Bede on Sept. 4, and Bureau Valley on Sept. 11, before heading to Prophetstown for a week four matchup with the Erie-Prophetstown co-op on Sept. 18.

Amboy-LaMoille will have a two game home stand in weeks five and six with contests at “The Harbor” against Fulton on Sept. 25 and Morrison on Oct. 2. They will then head on the road to take on Sterling Newman on Oct. 9.

The Clippers’ last home game of the season will come on Oct. 16 against Ottawa Marquette, and they will end the regular season with a road contest against Riverdale in Port Byron on Oct. 23.

Bureau Valley

The Storm and second-year coach Jeff Ohlson will begin their 2009 campaign, which consists entirely of Big Rivers conference opponents, with a pair of home contests. They will be kicking off the season against Riverdale, and following up with a Sept. 4 contest against River Valley, who will leave the Big Rivers in 2010.
Bureau Valley will then take to the road for a Sept. 11 matchup with the Amboy-LaMoille co-op, and a Sept. 18 tilt with St. Bede.

Bureau Valley will return to Storm Stadium to take on Erie-Prophetstown Sept. 25 before heading back on the road for an Oct. 2 contest against Fulton.

Week six begins a two-game homestand for the Storm, which will face Morrison Oct. 9, and Sterling Newman Oct. 16 at Storm Stadium.
Bureau Valley will close out the regular season with an Oct. 23 contest on the road at Ottawa Marquette.

Hall

The Red Devils will begin the Jason Bland era when the new coach and his recruits start the season off with a road contest at Stillman Valley. Hall will then follow up against Rockridge for a week two away game on Sept. 4.

Hall will kick off their home slate on Sept. 11 against new schedule addition, Quincy Notre Dame, who will replace the Red Devils’ 2008 week three opponent of Lanark Eastland-Pearl City.

NCIC Lincoln conference play begins on Sept. 18, when the Red Devils will travel to face Kewanee. Hall will continue conference action with home games against Mendota on Sept. 25, Princeton on Oct. 2, and a road contest Oct. 9 at Rock Falls. The Red Devils will finish off NCIC Lincoln play at Nesti Stadium on Oct. 16 against IVC.
Hall will close out regular season play with a home contest on Oct. 23 against Champaign St. Thomas Moore.

Princeton

The Tigers and second-year coach Dave Moore will start the season on the road at Rockridge, and will follow up with another road contest on Sept. 4 against Peoria Manual at Peoria Stadium. The Tigers’ first home game will be Sept. 11, as they welcome schedule newcomer Peoria Notre Dame, who takes over for last year’s week three opponent, Streator.
NCIC Lincoln conference schedule for Princeton kicks off with a week four match up against Rock Falls at home on Sept.18.

The Tigers will travel to Kewanee to face the Boilermakers and rookie coach Chris Waca, a Princeton native, on Sept. 25. The meeting between the two teams will signify the last game of the longest continuously played rivalry in Illinois, as Kewanee is departing the NCIC Lincoln to join the Big Rivers, starting in 2010.

Princeton will round out their conference play with a road game at Hall on Oct. 2, a road contest at IVC Oct.9, and finally a home contest against the Trojans of Mendota on Oct.16.

The Tigers last game of the regular season will be at home against Orion, who will replace Dixon from last year’s schedule.

St. Bede

The Bruins will start their 30th season under coach John Bellino with a trio of road contests. St. Bede’s regular season schedule, which consists entirely of Big Rivers conference opponents, kicks off in Morrison, and heads to a week two match up Sept. 4 against the Amboy-LaMoille co-op in Amboy. St. Bede will play their week three contest on Sept. 12 at Sterling Newman.

The Bruins first home contest will come on Sept.18 against Bureau Valley, and they will remain at home for a Sept. 25 week four match up against Ottawa Marquette.

The Bruins will then head back to the road for an Oct. 2 game with Erie-Prophetstown and a week seven tilt with Riverdale in Port Byron Oct. 9.

St. Bede will close out the 2009 season with a pair of games at home, a Saturday afternoon game against Fulton on Oct. 17, and a home contest Oct.23 against River Valley, who will be exiting the Big Rivers in 2010.
