LOMBARD — Bernita Arlene Pollitt, 75, of Lombard died Friday, July 10, 2009.

Born Sept. 9, 1933, in Tiskilwa to Robert “Dawson” and Vera Giltner, she was raised in Wyanet, and attended nurses’ training at St. Francis in Peoria. She then moved to Chicago and was a registered surgical nurse for several years. She married Damon “Ed” Pollitt in Chicago. They operated their own company, PC Services Inc., for 30 years. She lived in Lombard for the past 32 years.

Survivors include her husband; children, Michael (Margo), Karen, Robert (Vicki) and Kathryn (Shane); grandchildren Mitchell, Miranda, Nina, Aiden, Sydney, Taigue and Jillian; and special friends, Karen Stachon and Shelly Thurston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Robert Giltner of Denver, Colo.

Visitation was held Sunday at Brust Funeral Home in Lombard and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday at St. John’s of the Apostle Church in Villa Park. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton.
