Creations of Hope is a non-profit endeavor featuring handmade crafts and items made by women in Uguanda. All proceeds go back to the Uganda families. Bloodmobile SPRING VALLEY — St. Margaret’s Hospital will host a Red Cross Bloodmobile from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the first floor presentation room. To be a blood donor, one must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old, 16 years old with a signed Red Cross parental/guardian consent form. A donor card or photo I.D., or two other forms of I.D. are required at check-in. Walk-ins are welcome, or for an appointment, call St. Margaret’s Volunteer Services at (815) 223-5346. Bill Guerrini Financial Services will sponsor the canteen. CIA to meet LADD — The Ladd CIA will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ladd Village Hall. Book Club PRINCETON — The Princeton Public Library Book Club will hold its next meeting at 4 p.m. Aug. 13 in the community meeting room at the library. The group will be discussing “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle” by David Wroblewski. The staff at the library will be glad to assist anyone in borrowing this book. Stop by the front desk and ask for their help. Anyone is invited to join the group in discussing this book. Sponsored by Friends of Princeton Public Library. Show and lunch LASALLE — Tickets are available for a day trip to see Tommy Gun’s Garage Show and have lunch in Chicago on Sept. 2. The trip is sponsored by the LaSalle-Peru Red Hatters, but is not limited to Red Hatters. Cost is $67 per person, which includes show, lunch and transportation. To reserve your seat, call Sharon at (815) 220-3511 by Monday Band concert PRINCETON — The Princeton Community Band will hold a free concert at 6 p.m. Sunday in Soldiers and Sailors Park. Future concert dates are July 26 and Aug. 2. Genealogy meeting PRINCETON — The Bureau County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on July 23, at 629 S. Main St. in Princeton. Patrick Hodge will present “The Genealogy of 629 South Main Street, Princeton, Illinois.” It will be a look at the life and times of the businesses that have existed at this address and the people who ran them, especially those from the first century of Princeton’s history. The BCGS Library hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Other times are by appointment. Call (815) 879-3133 with any questions. Festival LASALLE — The 2009 Festival of Nations will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. July 30 at the Midwest Community Center, 1015 First Street in LaSalle.
