WALNUT — Junior and senior high school students have been experiencing a little bit of everything this summer with crafts at the Walnut Public Library. The first week, we focused on paper airplanes, but not just plain paper airplanes — these were jet fighters, water planes and helicopters. They were fun to make and fun to fly. We had to fly them indoors because of the rain outside, but they made many flights and not one crash.

Then we took a trip back to the 60s. Remember “Pet Rocks?” There were some real fun animals created, including a ladybug, a turtle, a frog on a log, a rainbow fish, and a toucan. Stop by to take a look at some of the items we have created so far.

Summer Reading takes place on Wednesday afternoons starting at 1:30 p.m. There is something for all ages. The grade school children meet in the Children’s Department downstairs, and the junior and senior high school students meet in the Young Adult Department upstairs. We are also inviting adults who would like to share some forgotten crafts.
