The Princeton Elks Club will serve the meat and have the bake sale. Veterans workshop PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 will conduct its monthly veterans workshop at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the post home to fill treat sacks for the local veterans the Unit serves. All members are encouraged to attend. Workshop information can be had by calling VA&R chair Clara Pease at (815) 872-0430 in the evenings or call post home and leave a message at (815) 872-1171. Shoffner/Smith reunion PRINCETON — The Shoffner - Smith family reunion will begin at 1 p.m. Aug. 23 at City-County Park in Princeton. This is a reunion of the descendants of Thomas Green Shoffner and Mary Elizabeth Smith who had nine children, Ruie Jane Shoffner Miller, William Bush Shoffner, Iva Dell Shoffner, Zilphur Shoffner Wise, Lloyd Thomas Shoffner, Andrew Michael Shoffner, John Talbot Shoffner, Stella Bea Shoffner Saathoff and Edna Mildred Shoffner Johnson. All family members are encouraged to attend. They are asked to bring dishes to pass according to family size and own picnic supplies. A family genealogy book will be available for viewing at the reunion. Book club meeting PRINCETON — The Princeton Public Library Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday in the community meeting room at the library. The group will discuss “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle” by David Wroblewski. Anyone is invited to join the group, sponsored by Friends of Princeton Public Library, in discussing this book. Red Hats gathering PRINCETON —The Red Hats will hold an ugly purse exchange at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge in Princeton. Members are asked to include a surprise inside before wrapping the purse and to bring fresh fruit or a fruit salad. |
