SPRING VALLEY — Catherine Slusarek, 91, of 13799 3540 East St., Spring Valley, died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.
Born Feb. 18, 1918, in Spring Valley to Joseph and Anna Moskaites, she married Edmund Slusarek Feb. 18, 1939, in St. John’s Church in Lostant. He died Aug. 22, 1976.
She worked at Westclox in Peru and then, until retiring, she worked at the Illinois Unemployment Office in LaSalle.
She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Spring Valley and Bureau County Home Extension. She was also a Cub Scout den mother and was involved in 4-H.
Surviving are three sons, James Slusarek of Dallas, Texas, William Slusarek of Metamora and Michael Slusarek of LaSalle; one daughter, Cathy Ann Zborowski of Peru; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, and at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Spring Valley, with the Rev. Robert Spilman officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
