Each Tuesday, Rachel Bystry will read chapters from one of Dahl’s books from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Each Wednesday, Youth Services will show a Dahl movie at 3:30 p.m. in the meeting room with snacks. Thursdays will be Chocolate Day, so come find out what that means! Bureau County pastors will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, and the Computer Users Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. We the People will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday. SPRING VALLEY — The Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library will hold story times featuring author Kate McMullan from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays throughout September. This Tuesday’s story time will feature “I’m Bad!” a towering, tough-talking T. Rex, complete with “rip-’em-up claws,” “bite-’em-up fangs,” and “bad breath.” (And don’t even think of making fun of its “baby arms.”) This creature is really big, “six-tons-of-muscle-on-the-hustle big,” with a “big empty belly growling for grub.” Despite the beast’s bravado, however, its attempts at catching prey are repeatedly-and hilariously-foiled. LAMOILLE — The LaMoille-Clarion Public Library has completed another successful summer season. Thirty children met or exceeded their reading goals. Their accomplishments were celebrated during an ice cream party with 19 readers plus parents attending. Each child who met their goal received a bag containing a book, bookmark, pencils and other fun items. Winners of our annual drawing for prizes received an additional book. Prize winners this year included Ben Hosto, Thomas Molln, Shaun DesRocher and Ella Cherry. Thank you to all participants for another great summer! MINERAL — The book discussion at the Mineral Gold Library is starting up again in September. The group will be meeting on Tuesdays from 2 to 3 p.m. starting Sept. 15. Please contact the library if you want to attend or for more information. SHEFFIELD — The Sheffield Public Library will have a rummage sale later this fall and is looking for donations of anything that is gently used. Pick up of donations can be arranged by calling the library at (815) 454-2628, or calling Dawn at (815) 878-9771 or Tami at (309) 847-5009 when the library is closed. |
