Tristan Hicks, Michaela Nelson, Lindsey Frank, Emily Brand and Courtney Schafer all picked up singles wins for the Tigresses. In doubles action Nelson and Brand teamed up for a 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 win and Evinne Dimmig and Hicks won 4-6, 6-4, 11-9. Golf At LaSalle: The St. Bede boys placed third with a score of 192 at Oak Ridge Country Club in LaSalle, finishing behind Tri-County opponents Putnam County (171) and Marquette (184) on Tuesday. Garreth Footh led the way for the Bedan golf team, carding a 47 on the par 36 back nine at Oak Ridge. The medalist for the meet was Putnam County’s Phil Nanni who turned in a three-over par 39. Rounding out the Bruins’ scores were Chris Fernadez (49), Alex Harrison (53), Adam Sickley (55), Danny Smith (48) and Evan Duttlinger (48). In JV action, St. Bede’s Grant Bosnich dropped in a hole-in-one on the 153 yard No. 17 using a seven iron. Bosnich finished the day tied with Andy Eiten for top honors for the Cubs, each shooting a 47. St. Bede edged out Marquette 198 to 205 to pick up the win. At Spring Creek: The Lady Bruins topped visiting Fieldcrest 203 to 220 Tuesday. St. Bede’s Bekki Prokup took home top honors for all golfers, shooting a 46. Olivia Dean (50), Katie Gegorich (54), Hanna Billing (53), Rachel Struna (55) and Elizabeth Voitek (58) rounded out the Lady Bruins’ scorecard. At Deer Valley: Riverdale took the team title at Deer Valley on Tuesday, with a score of 169. Bureau Valley finished in second with a tally of 190, edging out Erie-Prophetstown (192), and Amboy (213). Riverdale’s Kelby Kindelsparger and Gage DeCook split medalist honors with a score of 40. For the Storm, Jordan Twidell and Jacob Nord each turned 46s for top home honors for the home team. Alex Knisley, Riley DeBrock and Chris Miller all shot a 49 and Ryan Haney added a 57. Bureau Valley finished fourth in the JV competition with Ethan Ringle and Patrick Fisch each turning in a scorecard of 55. Bob Miller (60) and Cody Weborg (64) filled out the JV Storms’ scores. Junior High Volleyball BUDA — Bureau Valley South topped visiting Stark County 25-17, 25-20 in an eighth-grade matchup. Leading scorers for the Storm were Shelby Weborg with nine, and Lacey DeVenney with eight. In the seventh-grade game, BVS topped Stark County 25-10, 25-17, with Heaven Bennet (12) and Haley DeVoss (6) finishing as leading scorers. |
