James Chapman

WALNUT — James Edward Chapman, 57, of 321 S. Main St., Walnut, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa.

Jim was born on Dec. 17, 1951, in Sterling to Ralph and Joanne (Fritz) Chapman. He was united in marriage to Brenda Illges on April 28, 1984, in Moline. He was employed at Walmart Distribution Center in Spring Valley as a truck driver. He enjoyed golfing, was an avid Cubs' fan, and his family meant the most to him.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Chapman of Walnut; two daughters, Jennifer (Jamie) Lind of Princeton and Jodi Hargis of Princeton; four grandchildren, Austin and Allison Von Holten, Jacob Lind and Cameron Hargis; his parents, Joanne and Don Kramer of Walnut; his father, Ralph (Betty) Chapman of Arizona; two sisters, Stacey Hans of Sterling and Joanna (Jerry) Owens of Walnut; two brothers, Tim Kramer of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Gary Chapman of Kansas; three aunts, Nancy (Don) Christensen and Donna Manak, both of Walnut, and Jeri Lynn (Dennis) Schrader of West Brooklyn, Ill.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, with the Rev. Brian Moore, pastor of the First Christian Church of Walnut, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established in his memory.

The Princeton High School Tigers beat the Rock Falls Rockets Wednesday 66-55 during sectional play at Byron. The Tigers will now play the undefeated Winnebago Indians at 7:30 p.m. Friday for the sectional championship.
