Dennison, Reining of Kewanee plead guilty to theft charges

PRINCETON — Two men implicated in a recent  burglary in Tiskilwa have pleaded guilty to the crime.

On Aug. 21, Ricky A. Dennison, 55, of Kewanee entered a guilty plea to the Class 3 felony of theft. On Aug. 25, John A. Reining, 28, of Kewanee entered a guilty plea to the Class 2 felony of burglary.

Circuit Judge Marc Bernabei sentenced Dennison on two years probation, ordered him to serve five months in the Bureau County Jail plus to have no contact with the victim. Dennison has two prior misdemeanor convictions in Henry County. Reining was placed on three years probation and was also ordered to serve four months in the Bureau County Jail and to have no contact with the victim. Reining has no prior record.

In May, the Bureau County Sheriff’s Department received a Crime Stoppers’ tip that appliances and air conditioning units had been stolen from the former Tiskilwa High School building and were being sold. Upon contact with building owner James Shafer, investigators determined many appliances and air conditioning units had been taken from the building which was being converted into apartments.
