Lunch in the Park
PRINCETON — Lunch in the Park will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Soldiers and Sailors Park in Princeton. The UPC Ladies Auxiliary will serve the meat and the Princeton Junior Woman’s Club will have the bake sale.
HCE meeting
PRINCETON — The Northwest Princeton unit of HCE will meet at 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the home of Gloria Hansen, 1122 W. Putnam. Melvina Lewis will be the assistant hostess. Joyce Crawford will give the lesson.
Retirement tea
PRINCETON — The medical rehabilitation department at Perry Memorial Hospital will host a retirement tea for Doris Streit from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the hospital cafeteria. Streit is retiring from PMH after 35 years of service.
Meeting set
DEPUE — The DePue/Bureau County Democrats will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the VFW Hall in DePue. The 2009-10 membership drive is on so new members are welcome. New officers for the upcoming year will be discussed at this meeting. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.
Planning meeting
SPRING VALLEY — The Hall High School Class of 1969 will have a reunion planning meeting at 7 p.m. Friday in the lower meeting room of Spring Valley City Bank. Those interested in planning the reunion should attend. Those classmates who have not returned their questionnaire are encouraged to do so.
Names wanted
PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton is asking for names and addresses of Bureau County and surrounding area soldiers stationed in the Middle East and Africa so the Unit can send them a Christmas box this year. Book club meeting
PRINCETON — The Princeton Public Library Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. Sept. 10 in the community meeting room at the library. The group will discuss “The Blood of Flowers” by Anita Amirrezvani. The staff at the library will be glad to assist anyone in borrowing this book. Anyone is invited to join the group, sponsored by Friends of Princeton Public Library, in discussing this book.
MOPS meeting
PRINCETON — The Bureau County Mothers Of Preschoolers Association will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the Covenant Church in Princeton. MOPS is an international organization for all moms of infants to kindergartners which provides an opportunity to meet other moms and make the journey of motherhood together. Childcare is available but must be made with an RSVP to Sara Edlefson at (815) 875-4050. PRINCETON — A freedom rally, “Let Freedom Ring,” will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Soldiers and Sailors Park in Princeton.
