'Back to the '80s ... The Totally Awesome Musical'PRINCETON — From the era that brought the world the Rubik’s Cube, Max Headroom and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes this “totally awesome” musical in the style of movies such as Back To The Future, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Karate Kid and the Wedding Singer. Join the graduating class of William Ocean High School as they live through their final senior year — as they experience the fun, the heartbreak, the loves and the loneliness of growing up ... all set to the biggest hits of the 80’s. The then 17-year-old Corey is madly in love with his next-door neighbor, Tiffany. She doesn’t even notice as she is too busy mooning over Michael, the hottest guy around. Michael is athletic and good-looking; Corey not so much and his best friend and computer nerd believes that one day CD’s will replace cassette tapes. Michael steals Corey’s election speech along with his ideas and promises and becomes president, with Tiffany as his vice. Corey looks on despairingly. New student twins Mel and Kim arrive along with Eileen whose life becomes a nightmare when Michael and friends send her fake love letters. And then teachers Mr. Cocker and Miss Sheena Brannigan have relationship issues of their own they may not survive. Throw in high-energy dance routines, the obligatory 80’s party scene, lots of blue eye-shadow, hairspray, as well as some of the most popular songs ever written, and the result is a musical that will not only delight but also amuse an audience of any age. Now add to all of that local cast members and this year’s Homestead Festival Play is a must see for everyone! |
