Community NotesChicken, biscuit dinner PRINCETON — Hampshire Colony Congregational Church will host its annual chicken and biscuit dinner on Oct. 14. Serving will begin at 4:45 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. The cost for the dinner is $7 for adults and $3 for children’s half portion. Carryouts are available and begin at 4:30 p.m. For delivery to senior citizens and shut-ins, call (815) 875-2329. Homemade candies, cookies, cakes, pies, etc. will be available for purchase during the dinner hours. The church, located at 604 S. Church St. in Princeton, is handicapped accessible. Trivia Night DALZELL — Nurses who work in the obstetrics unit at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru are planning a Trivia Night fundraiser for the March of Dimes. The event will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Dalzell fire station. Teams must be composed of eight to 10 players and team leaders are asked to pre-register by calling IVCH at (815) 780-3337. Food and other refreshments will be available. PJWC meeting PRINCETON — The Princeton Junior Woman’s Club will hold its annual membership meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Prouty Building in Princeton. This month’s meeting will host Chef Monika Sudakov from the Chestnut Street Inn doing a cooking demonstration. All women, 18 years and older, are invited to attend. Legion meeting SPRING VALLEY — The Dominic O’Berto Post of the American Legion will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the KC Club rooms at 307 W. St. Paul St. International Night PRINCETON — The Bureau County Home & Community Education Association will hold its annual International Night celebration at 6 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Princeton. The country of Argentina will be featured with the members preparing some of that country’s distinctive cuisine for the evening’s potluck dinner. Bake sale PRINCETON — Orchard View Rehabilitation and Health Care will hold a harvest bake sale from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 27 at Orchard View. Proceeds from the event will go toward the resident treat fund. Workshop ROCK ISLAND — Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging will sponsor an educational seminar of exercise and physical activity of older adults from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at 729 34th Ave. in Rock Island. Refreshments will be served. This workshop is designed for senior citizens, caregivers and any others who are interested. Banners available PRINCETON — The American Legion and Auxiliary of Princeton have one- and two- blue Names wanted PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton is asking for names and addresses of Bureau County and surrounding area soldiers stationed in the Middle East and Africa so the Unit can send them a Christmas box this year. Dinner dance PRINCETON — The Perry Memorial Hospital 60 Plus Program will sponsor a Veterans Day dinner and dance from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Bureau County Metro Center in Princeton. Music will be provided by The Generics. The cost is $28 per person, which includes dinner and dancing. Reservations can be made by calling (815) 876-4454. Payment is due by Oct. 28. Veterans are requested to wear military uniforms, caps and/or medals and they may also bring memorabilia or a photo of themselves in uniform. The public is invited to attend. Comments
