Honor Flight to hold Princeton fundraiser

A fundraiser was sponsored by the Granville and Henry American Legion posts Sept. 19, and held in Granville at PC Foods. Keith Baldwin wasn’t sure exactly how much money was raised, but said they went through 220 pounds of pork and only two pork chops were left over. Baldwin said without the help of the many volunteers, this event would not have been possible, and especially thanked PC Foods for their time and effort. (Photo contributed)

PRINCETON — Last month’s fundraiser for Honor Flight Quad Cities was a great success, and Keith Baldwin is already looking forward to the next event, to be held in Princeton.

Baldwin is part of a group trying to raise funds for Honor Flight, a nationwide organization dedicated to flying as many World War II veterans as possible to Washington, D.C. to view the World War II memorial. Honor Flight flies World War II veterans on a one-day trip to Washington, D.C. for no cost. They are bussed to the Quad City Airport, where they will board a chartered aircraft for the trip.

The next fundraiser will be held at the Burger King in Princeton from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 15. Diners who bring a flyer with them and order one of the designated meals will have 20 percent of their purchase donated to Honor Flight Quad Cities. Flyers are available at the Bureau County Republican office.
