Fundraiser planned

PRINCETON — The Princeton Theatre Group will host “Thursday Night at the Movies” Thursday. The evening starts at 7:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald’s Piano Lounge, 432 S. Main St. in Princeton, with hors d’oeuvres, conversation, raffles and a cash bar. At 9:30 p.m., the group will go to the Apollo Theater for a private movie screening. All proceeds from this fundraiser support Festival 56’s ability to present Shakespeare in the Park each summer for six weeks of free outdoor performances for patrons from its hometown of Princeton as well as visitors. Tickets are $35 per person and include hors d’oeuvres and a movie ticket. Reservations are suggested and can be done by calling the Festival 56 box office at (815) 879-5656, ext 13. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Singers wanted

WALNUT — The Walnut United Methodist Church choir is looking for anyone who likes to sing to take part in its annual Christmas concert. Rehearsals will begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 and continue each Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. until the concert on Dec. 13. For more information, call Director Tim Watson at (815) 379-2801.

Fall bake sale

SPRING VALLEY — The Ladies of St. George Church, 211 E. Minnesota St. in Spring Valley will host its fall bake sale from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Heritage favorites such as an array of meat and spinach pies, baklava, butter and date cookies and more will be featured. Both Lebanese and Greek pastries as well as American bakery will be featured. Woodcrafters meeting

PRINCETON — The Woodcrafters Unlimited Association will meet Thursday at the Bureau County Senior Center, 16 W. Marion St. in Princeton. Show and tell will start at 6:30 p.m. with the regular meeting to start at 7 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.

Haunted house

LAMOILLE — The LaMoille basketball team and art department will sponsor a haunted house from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 23 and 24 at the high school. Admission is $5. Ages 10 and up are welcome. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to charity.

MS support group

PRINCETON — The Bureau County MS Support Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Nelson Chapel, 502 Elm Place. “Solving One Piece of the MS Puzzle, “ part one and two, clinical trials education program from the National MS Society, will be shared for the October and November meetings. Light refreshments will be served. The birthday open house will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 15. All businesses and the general public are invited.
