Tigresses, Lady Devils notch NCIC wins

Princeton and Hall posted conference wins in NCIC Lincoln volleyball play Tuesday with the Tigresses defeating Rock Falls at home and the Lady Devils winning on the road at Kewanee.

Princeton 2, Rock Falls 1: The Lady Rockets opened the Tigresses’ eyes with a 25-20 loss in the first set. PHS battled back for 25-17 and 25-12 wins to take the match.

Sarah Maynard and Jolynn Kane led the hitting attack with 10 kills each and Jacquie Kane added seven kills with Molly Stephens providing 36 assists. Jolyn Kane also added five aces and 15 digs.

Hall 2, Kewanee 1: The Lady Devils got their first NCIC win, but they had to work for it Tuesday. Hall opened with a 25-18 victory only to watch Kewanee rebound for a 25-19 win. The Lady Devils rode off with a 25-20 win in the third set.

Kaitlyn Raineri led the Lady Devils with 14 points, four aces and eight digs. Christina Richardson chipped in nine points and 16 assists. Mickey Victor added 17 kills and Kelle Nett (9) and Jaclyn Kain (7) combined for 16 kills.

Bureau Valley 2, Amboy 0: Sam Shepard had 11 assists and three kills to lead the Storm past the Clippers 25-13, 25-10 in Amboy.

Aubrey Franklin added 12 points, Meghan Mussche had 10 digs and Lauren Hasbrook added four kills.

Hinckley-Big Rock 2, LaMoille/Ohio 0: The Lady Lions were in upset mode in Tuesday’s Little Ten Conference tournament play, pushing No. 1 seed HBR in both games before falling 20-25, 22-25.

“We played great and was close to an upset,” L/O coach Denise Billhorn said.

The Lady Lions, who were seeded eighth, were led by Erika Walzer (6 points, 7 kills), Laura Stouffer (6 points, 4 aces, 12 digs) and Raeann Coughlin (5 points, 23 digs).

Fieldcrest 2, St. Bede 0: The Lady Knights held off the Lady Bruins in two close sets in Monday’s nonconference match at Fieldcrest. Bethany Stavrakas had seven kills and Molly Scott led the Bruins with 10 digs and added four kills.

The Lady Bruins will be hosting its Pink Night for Breast Cancer awareness vs. Marquette Thursday.

Annawan 2, West Central 1: Lauren Spivey had eight kills and Jordan Jackson added seven kills in the Bravettes’ road win Monday.

IVCC 3, Carl Sandberg 0: The Lady Eagles made a clean sweep at home Tuesday 25-21, 25-22, 25-17. LaMoille’s Hallie May had 11 assists.
