LaMoille man dies from injuries

ARLINGTON— A rural LaMoille man has died from injuries sustained in an Oct. 19 traffic accident north of Arlington
Trevor Schlesinger, 22, died Saturday at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Schlesinger's single-vehicle accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. Oct. 19 on Route 89, one mile north of Arlington. The Bureau County Sheriff’s Department and LaMoille Fire Department responded to the scene, with Schlesinger having to be extricated from the vehicle. He was taken to St. Margaret’s Health in Spring Valley and later LifeFlighted to Peoria.
On Monday, Bureau County Sheriff John Thompson said there were some suspicious circumstances surrounding the accident, and he did have his officers start an investigation into the accident. With Schlesinger’s death, that investigation becomes a moot point and will be closed, Thompson said.
Officers did retrieve a cell phone from the accident scene, which has been turned over to the family. There did not appear to be any contributing road factors to the accident, such as construction or pavement conditions, Thompson said.
An inquest into Schlesinger’s death will likely be conducted in Peoria County, Thompson said.
