SPRING VALLEY — Patricia Welbers, 85, of rural Spring Valley died at 11:34 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.

Born April 6, 1924, in DePue to Frank and Emmerence (Johnson) Garrett, she married William Welbers Nov. 20, 1948, at St. Mary Catholic Church in DePue. He died March 4, 1980.

She graduated as the valedictorian for the DePue High School Class of 1942. She worked at the Green River Ordinance Plant during World War II and American Nickeloid. She was the owner of Orbit Transport Inc.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Spring Valley.

Surviving are one son, Barry (Beth) Welbers of rural Spring Valley; one daughter, Lori (Jerry Stocking) Stanton of rural Spring Valley; and 11 grandchildren, Bob Stanton and Bill Grosenbach, both of Spring Valley, Aubrey Welbers of Chicago, and Ryan Welbers, Lindsay Welbers, Megan Welbers, Stephanie Stocking, Natalie Stocking, Erica Stocking, Samantha Stocking and Kristie Stocking, all of rural Spring Valley.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert G. Garrett; and two sisters, Martha Jean Siska and Virginia G. Urbanski.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, and at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Spring Valley, with the Revs. Robert Spilman and Harold Datzman officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A prayer service will be at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
