WYANET — Walter and Rose Nelson of Wyanet just returned from a weekend long visit to Omaha, Neb., where they celebrated with César Molano his naturalization as a U.S. citizen. Molano lived with Walter, Rose and their children, Jenny and Jake Peach, in Wyanet during the 1992 and 1993 school year as a foreign exchange student from Colombia, South America. He attended Wyanet Community High School from where he graduated. Molano returned to his home country in the summer of 1993 to finish his Colombian High School. In 1994 the Nelsons traveled to Colombia for a three-week visit to share with the Molano family and experience their culture. The “Foreign Exchange Experience” along with this trip helped cultivate a special and solid bond that has remained strong between these two families for the almost two decades since they met. Late in 1994 Molano returned to the United States to attend college at the University of Nebraska in Omaha. He graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Since then he has been involved in transportation logistics working for Union Pacific Railroad, Werner Enterprises and currently Conagra Foods. Comments
