Willis Anderson of Tiskilwa will celebrate his 90th birthday with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Methodist Church in Tiskilwa. Willis was born on a farm south of Tiskilwa on Dec. 4, 1919. He attended Lone Tree, a one-room school, and graduated from Tiskilwa High School in the Class of 1937. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Navy and served onboard a Landing Ship Tank, LST 311, until 1945. After World War II, he and Maryfrances Anderson of Princeton were married. They moved to the farm where he was born to raise their family of four children, Raymond, Douglas, Dale and Wilma. Willis and Maryfrances farmed the land until 1979 when he had a heart attack. They then moved to Tiskilwa to allow Dale to farm the home place. They were both very involved in the Tiskilwa Methodist Church, then the Yoked Parish. Maryfrances passed away in 2002 and Willis lives at home and walks Cemetery Hill as often as he can. Comments
