PERU — At a recent homecoming prayer service at St. Bede Academy, the students and faculty found ways to make service men and women feel more at home. Alumnus Tony Zermeno spoke on what it is like to leave home; being away from home; what one realizes one has taken for granted and what it’s like to return home from active duty.

The students and faculty presented items that had been requested for Project Santa. These items will be put in Christmas stockings to give our service men and women overseas a feeling of home.

It was also a jean day and funds collected were used to purchase Fulton Sheen wartime prayer books and to provide money for postage to send the prayer books and other items.
This year’s local Project Santa goal is 6,000 stockings for service men and women in Iraq, Afghanistan and military hospitals in Germany.
