The group will discuss “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett. The staff at the library will be glad to assist anyone in borrowing this book. Candy Cane House PRINCETON — Candy Cane House, sponsored by the Perry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the north lobby of the hospital. Nuts, gifts, cookbooks and refreshments will be available. Funds raised will be used to purchase equipment for the hospital. A special lunch will be available in the hospital cafeteria. Cookie sale PRINCETON — The Perry Memorial Auxiliary will hold a cookie sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in the north lobby of the hospital. Funds raised from the cookie sale will be used to purchase equipment for the hospital. Purse sale PRINCETON — The Perry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a purse sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 13 in the north lobby of the hospital. All proceeds from the sale are used for equipment for the hospital. Ham supper PRINCETON — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton will hold its sixth annual ham supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the post home. The menu will include baked ham, potatoes, hot vegetables, dinner rolls, salads, coffee and iced tea. Tickets, which will be available at the door, are $7 for adults, $3 for ages 6-10. There will also be a 50/50 drawing that night. This is a major fundraiser for the Unit. Bake sale SPRING VALLEY — St. Margaret’s Auxiliary will host a bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the hospital’s upper lobby outside the gift shop. Christmas in the Valley SPRING VALLEY — Christmas in the Valley will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in downtown Spring Valley. There will be trolley rides and baked goods at the mini-mall, barbershop quartet carolers and costumed characters. For the kids, there will be a craft project at the library, games at Valley Ford and pony rides at Riverview Marine. Pictures with Santa will be at Valley Photo. Pigeon show PRINCETON — The Mid-America Pigeon Club will have a show from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Allen Building at the Bureau County Fairgrounds. From 600 to 900 all breed pigeons will be judged. The event is open to the public. Tribute SPRING VALLEY — Members of the Spring Valley American Legion are asked to assemble for a tribute to all veterans at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday near the veteran’s memorial monument in front of City Hall. The regular monthly meeting will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Knights of Columbus Hall rooms. Luncheon PRINCETON — The Women in Business luncheon will be from 11:45 to 1 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Wine Cellar, 432 S. Main St. Featured is a fall fashion show by Four Seasons, jewelry designs by Gina Nelson of Bead Buzz and skin and body care products by Mary Van Keulen of Sophisticuts.
