A card shower is being held for Don “Mr. Conservation” Pretzsch of Princeton, who will be retiring from his farm management business, Pretzsch Agriculture Services, at the end of the year.

Don has been very active in conservation and was notable in his previous employment as the district conservationist in Bureau County with the Soil Conservation Service (now the Natural Resource Conservation Service) from 1961 to 1980. Area residents will continue to benefit from the conservation Don helped put on the ground and enjoy the natural areas he helped the Bureau County Soil and Water Conservation District obtain. He created native prairie restorations (Center Prairie and McCune Sand Prairie), forest preservations (Warnecke Woods) and others.
