Seatonville Village Board 10-19

SEATONVILLE — The Seatonville Village Board conducted the following business at its Oct. 19 meeting:

• Heard a request from Lisa Errio on behalf of the Women's Auxiliary for a donation to help with the maintenance of the Abraham's baseball field.

• Heard a presentation from auditor Joe Birkey on the annual audit. The village's assessed valuation increased by $167,618. Birkey said everything looks fine, and the village board should not let water rates become stagnant.

• Discussed conditions of some properties and possible actions the board could take.

• Received information from Spring Valley's village attorney regarding establishing a non-home rule system.

• Received a thank you note from Gateway Services for a recent donation.

• Received information from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity regarding available grant money for recycling programs.

• Discussed correspondence received from Chamlin & Associates regarding correspondence with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency regarding wells.

• Discussed the procedure for setting salaries for trustees and clerk.

• Discussed roof and gutter repair on the village hall and roof repair at the storage building.

• Discussed issues and complaints about the tavern.

• Approved village mowing as necessary to comply with village ordinances and also approved a donation to the Seatonville Women's Auxiliary to help with maintenance of Abraham's baseball field.

The Princeton High School Tigers beat the Rock Falls Rockets Wednesday 66-55 during sectional play at Byron. The Tigers will now play the undefeated Winnebago Indians at 7:30 p.m. Friday for the sectional championship.
