Pigskin Previews — Playoffs, Week 2
Wethersfield/Annawan (9-1) at Amboy/LaMoille (9-1)
Gametime: 1 p.m. Saturday at the Harbor, Amboy High School.
Class: 2A.
BCR insider: Saturday’s clash will match two co-ops, one in its second year (A/W) and one in its seventh (A/L). The Amboy/LaMoille merger has been a huge success with seven straight playoff appearances, reaching the 3A quarterfinals in 2003, 2006 and 2007. The game will also find one team moving up, A/W from 1A to 2A after 12 playoff appearances, and the other moving down, A/L to 2A. Amboy won a state title (’84) with two seconds when it was 2A out of six classes ... As if handling Cody Richardson (1,282 yards, 13 TDs rushing) hasn’t been a problem this season for Clippers’ opponents, coach Gary Jones utilized his standout running back as the “Wildcat” Saturday. That will certainly give the Titans and any future playoff foes something to think about ... The Titans’ lone loss this year was at the hands of Aledo Mercer County (33-0), which knocked out Amboy’s Big Rivers’ rival Bureau Valley, 22-19, Saturday. Amboy beat Bureau Valley 23-14 during the regular season.
