Community NotesPJWC meeting PRINCETON — The Princeton Junior Woman’s Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Prouty Building. This month’s meeting will have a demonstration from Tamdi. All women, 18 years and older, are invited to join to learn more about the Princeton Junior Woman’s Club, meet new people, enjoy Chef Monika’s demonstration and sample great food. Trivia Night SPRING VALLEY — The Hall Booster Organization “Cash for Commodes” will host a Trivia Night on Saturday at the Spring Valley Boat Club. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and trivia will begin at 7 p.m. The cost is $10 per person. to reserve a table, call (815) 866-3487. The event will also include food, drinks, raffles and prizes. Participants must be 21 to play. Craft, bake sale PRINCETON — The residents of Liberty Village will have a craft and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. The event will feature many Christmas crafts and baked goods. Some white elephant items will be available for purchase. Hike the Canal SHEFFIELD — Friends of the Canal will hold its monthly Hike the Canal outing on Sunday. This month’s hike will be from Bridge 52 to Bridge 50 on the feeder canal. Participants should meet at 1:30 p.m. at the northwest side of Bridge 50 where they will be shuttled to Bridge 52 to begin the hike. Fundraiser planned SHEFFIELD — The Sheffield Public Library is preparing to hold its second fundraiser of 2009. Preparations are now underway to hold a cooking demonstration by the Chestnut Street Inn’s award-winning chef, Monika Sudakov. This fundraiser will be at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Sheffield Community Center. Chef Monika will demonstrate the preparation of a variety of seasonal dishes. She will also provide recipes and food. The cost of the demonstration is $15 at the door. All proceeds will go to the Sheffield Public Library. Table top sale PRINCETON — The Perry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a table top sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in the north lobby of the hospital. The sale also includes jewelry, scarves and more. All proceeds from the sale are used for equipment for the hospital. Club meeting PRINCETON — The Center Grove Community Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the home of Mildred Stoner. Meeting planned LACON — The Tri-City Women’s Connection will meet for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at Club LaCon. The cost is $10 inclusive. Childcare is available by reservation. A special feature will be Louise Cordes with information on the Koinonia Food Pantry. Bring a non-perishable item to donate. The speaker will be Terri Schmitt, who will share her life and tea business experiences in “The Language of Love.” Reservations are needed by Thursday and can be made by calling Elaine at (309) 274-4563 or Herta at (309) 364-3438. Cancel your reservation if you are unable to attend. Blood drive PRINCETON— The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will hold a blood drive from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in the fourth floor multi-purpose room of Perry Memorial Hospital. Donors who last gave blood on or before Sept. 22 are eligible. Donors must be 16 years old, in good health, and weigh at least 110 pounds. A blood donor card or other photo I.D. is required to donate; 16-year-old donors must present a signed parental consent form. To donate call MVRBE at (800) 747-5401, ext 119. Comments
