Veterans Day ceremonies

City of Princeton

PRINCETON — The Princeton Veterans Group — members of American Legion Post 125, AMVETS Post 180 and VFW Post 4323 — will conduct Veterans Day ceremonies at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Veterans Park on South Main Street in Princeton. American Legion Auxiliary Unit 125 will also participate in these ceremonies by laying a wreath at the monument in the park. The guest speaker for the day will be American Legion District 16 Commander Sam Rice. The Princeton DAR will have a small reception at the post home, 1549 W. Peru St., after the ceremonies for anyone who would like to attend.

Logan Junior

High School

PRINCETON — Logan Junior High School will host a Veterans Day assembly at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Pannebaker Gymnasium. Chris Kieffer, Princeton resident and 20 year army veteran, will be the guest speaker. Kieffer served in the Persian Gulf conflict Desert Shield and Desert Storm. All community members are invited to attend the assembly. Patriotic music, speeches and special tributes to the veterans will be highlighted to commemorate the day. All veterans in attendance are encouraged to come to an 8 a.m. special breakfast to be served in the auxiliary gymnasium located by the main office. Special invitations for the event can be picked up at the school or at the American Legion hall.

St. Louis School

PRINCETON — St. Louis School’s Junior High students invite all veterans and current military to their annual Veterans Day program. The program will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Harkrader Hall at St. Louis Church. Guests should arrive 15 minutes early to sign in. Entrance to the hall can be accessed from the church parking lot. A reception for all veterans and current military will follow the assembly. Contact the school at (815) 872-8521 to RSVP for the assembly and the reception. The public is invited.

Princeton Christian Academy

PRINCETON — The public is invited to a Veterans Day event at 2 p.m. on Veterans Day at Princeton Christian Academy. Roger Butterfield, former senior chief in the U.S. Navy, will speak on his experiences during the Desert Storm conflict.

Bureau Valley

High School

MANLIUS — Bureau Valley High School Student Council members are expecting 550 veterans, students and members of the community at their annual Veterans Day assembly beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the high school auditorium. For 15 years the student body and faculty at BVHS have observed Veterans Day by inviting veterans and the community to the ceremony.

PRINCETON — Princeton High School’s First Class Committee is inviting all area veterans to the high school cafeteria for coffee and doughnuts from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m. on Veterans Day. The committee would like veterans to share their some of their military experiences and allow the students to get acquainted with them. At 7:45 a.m., everyone will proceed to the flagpole to raise the flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
