Grand jury considers cases

PRINCETON — A Bureau County grand jury considered the following cases on Nov. 9 at the Bureau County Courthouse:

• Raymond G. Olivo, 34, of Spring Valley was indicted for the Class 2 felony of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. He is accused of possessing a .45 caliber firearm in his Spring Valley home on July 29, after having been convicted of a forcible entry felony, burglary, on Aug. 30, 1995. Olivo is free from custody, having posted 10 percent of a $20,000 bond. Spring Valley Police Officer Nick Smudzinski testified before the grand jury.

• Joshua W. Snyder, 30, of Clinton, Iowa, was indicted for the Class 2 felony of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. He is a accused of possessing a .41 Colt Lightening handgun on Sept. 15, after having been convicted of a forcible felony, residential burglary, on March 26, 1977. Snyder is in custody, with bond set at $20,000. Walnut Police Chief Tom Ptasnik testified before the grand jury.

Robert E. Noble, 48, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was indicted for the Class 4 felony of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, cocaine. He is accused of possessing less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine on Oct. 15. He is free from custody, having posted 10 percent of a $15,000 bond. A TRI-DENT task force agent testified before the grand jury.

Sammy J. Towne, 42, of Tiskilwa was indicted for the Class 4 felony of obstructing justice. He is accused of providing false information to a Bureau County Sheriff's deputy on Oct. 25. Towne is free from custody, having posted 10 percent of a $5,000 bond. Bureau County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Ori testified before the grand jury.

• Beau E. Rambaud, 17, of Spring Valley was indicted for the Class 4 felony of unlawful delivery of cannabis. He is accused of delivering between 10 and 30 grams of cannabis to another on Aug. 18. Rambaud is free from custody, having posted 10 percent of a $10,000 bond. A TRI-DENT agent testified before the grand jury.

• Nicole R. McNair, 25, and Dana L. Laughery, 25, both of Spring Valley, were indicted for the Class 4 felony of unlawful delivery of cannabis. They are accused of delivering between 10 and 30 grams of cannabis to another on Oct. 1. McNair is in custody, with bond set at $15,000. Laughery is in custody, with bond set at $10,000. A TRI-DENT task force agent testified before the grand jury.

• Anthony L. Whitmore, 37, of Sheffield was indicted for the Class 3 felony of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. He is accused of possessing less than five grams of methamphetamine on Nov. 3. Whitmore is free from custody, having posted 10 percent of a $20,000 bond. Bureau County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Ori testified before the grand jury.

• Teresa A. Martin, 31, of Walnut was indicted for the Class 2 felony of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. She is accused of delivering a controlled substance, hydrocodone, to another on Oct. 3. Martin is in custody, with bond set at $10,000. Walnut Police Chief Tom Ptasnik testified before the grand jury.

• There were two suppressed cases.

Bureau County State's Attorney Patrick Herrmann and Assistant State's Attorney Daniel Anderson presented the cases to the grand jury. All indictments were returned before Circuit Judge Marc Bernabei.
