Illinois Valley Youth Symphony celebrates 23rd season

LASALLE — The Youth Symphony of the Illinois Valley invites the public to attend the fall concert of its 23rd season.

The concert, conducted by John E. Armstrong and Michael J. Pecherek, will be at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 22 in the Matthiessen Auditorium at LaSalle-Peru Township High School. The orchestra will perform the following works: Eden Ridge by Larry Clark, Cirque du Soleil Celebration by Douglas E. Wagner, Frederick the Great Overture by Johann Gottlieb Graun, Into the Storm by Robert W. Smith, William Tell Overture by Giacomo Rossini Two Sketches for Orchestra by Clare Grundman, and James Bond Medley arranged by Victor Lopez.

A reception will follow the concert hosted by the Youth Symphony parents. Tickets to the concert are $7 adults and $5 for senior citizens and students. They may be purchased from members of the orchestra or at the door. Complimentary tickets are also available to groups from nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Second violinists: Abby Smith, principal, Peru, Ellen Anderson, assistant principal, Peru; Other seconds: Jessica Nelson, Ladd, Bethany Papillon, Sheridan, Erica Loveland, Spring Valley, Samantha Dominis, Ottawa, and DeJa Ramsey, Spring Valley. Cello: Zoie Gallo, principal, Ottawa, and Chris Papillon, Sheridan. Flutes include: Bethany Cutler, principal, Marseilles, Jennifer Antkowiak, assistant principal, Peru; Other flutes: Emily Passini, Dalzell, Sara Raffensperger, Ottawa, and Victoria Henry, LaSalle. Oboe: Jim Hays, principal, Princeton, Marisa Mitchell, Peru, and Katie Carr, Streator. Clarinets: Lindsay Hohertz, Mendota, Ashley Gonzalez, Mendota, and Hailey Williams, LaSalle. Horn: Emily Maze, Peru, and James Yates, Ottawa. Trumpets: Tony Grunstad, principal, Ottawa, Jeremy Stevens, assistant principal, Peru; Other trumpets: Natasha Jensen, Bureau, Jeff Moore, Ottawa, Ty Mall, Arlington, Trent Gander, Arlington, and Ben Charry, Princeton. Trombone: Abigail Dominis, Ottawa, and Frank Ryan. Tuba: Brad Cockrel.  Percussion: Tim Papillon, Sheridan, Justin Crabb, Grand Ridge, Aaron Carlsen, Dover, and Kelsey Watts, Oglesby.
