Teaching us a lesson

Comments (...)

Recently, 18 cats were rescued from a property in Princeton where the owner of the property did not feel that it was their responsibility to sterilize these cats. Over the years, cat fights over territorial rights for food and mating were a constant occurrence. When many of the cats were showing signs of various diseases, it was decided that something had to be done to help these animals. As each was brought in to be tested and treated, it became apparent that help had come too late. In addition to various diseases all but five had FELV (leukemia) and FIV (Aids).

There are many cat lovers in the area and many homes and businesses put out bowls of food each day to feed the strays. Please step up to the plate and get your outside friends sterilized. It teaches pet responsibility to children and is definitely better than trying to find homes for the unwanted kittens or finding them dead on the road.

There are clinics where sterilization can be done inexpensively. It costs less than a tank of gas, less than hosting a tailgate party, less than weekly after-school snacks for children, or fancy coffees for adults and will have a lasting effect on the animal you helped. The little ones, born out of man’s ignorance and neglect should not have died in vain. They should teach all of us a lesson — spay and neuter.
