Storm improves to 7-0

The Bureau Valley Storm girls basketball team raised its undefeated streak to seven games with a 63-35 win over Erie Saturday.

The Storm (7-0, 3-0) was led by seniors Melanie Thompson (21 points) and Lauren Hasbrook (17), who combined for 38 points and had nine rebounds each.

St. Bede 43, Mendota 36: The Lady Bruins turned a 24-23 halftime lead into a seven-point win on the road Monday. Steve Fisher had 10 points and Emily Considine added nine.

Considine (13) and Britt-any Burgess (12) combined for 25 points for St. Bede in Saturday’s 46-23 win over Streator at the Academy.

Willowbrook 63, Prince-ton 40: Sophomore guard C.J. Rhodes scored 20 points, including four three-pointers Saturday. Audra Ackerman added 12 points.

Annawan 51, Waverly 35: Kelly Buresh scored 20 points to lead the Bravettes in Shootout action Saturday in Springfield.

Paw Paw 58, LaMoille 45: The Lady Lions got more offense with Lorraine Stamberger netting 16 and Haley Stouffer and Laura Stauffer nine each, but still fell short

Varsity boys

Henry 64, LaMoille/Ohio 31: Austin Schwingle had eight points and Mitchell Baker seven points for the Lions in Saturday’s makeup game on the road.

Lowpoint-Washburn 73, DePue 37: Kyle Wachs led the Little Giants with 14 points in Saturday’s Tri-County loss at home.

St. Bede 82, Ridgewood 44: Junior guard Alec Schwab led all scorers with 24 points for the Bruins Saturday in Cambridge. St. Bede also got 16 points from Evan Duttlinger and nine from Ross Kenseth

Freshmen boys

Hall 49, Princeton 36: Brett Fanning and Taylor Steele had 15 points each, and Dakota Osborn added 10 to lead the Red Demons (1-2) to the first victory of the season Saturday in Spring Valley. Austin Mack had 11 points for PHS.

Freshmen girls

Princeton 52, Hall 19: The Tigresses were led in victory Saturday at Prouty Gym by Emmalee Sears (15 points), Phoenix Smallwood (12) and MacKenzie Schafer (11).

Bowling

At Ladd: The Hall boys defeated Marquette 3,038 to 2,957 Monday at Ladd Lanes. Austin Pelszynski had a high series of 565 and Kyle Mitchell had a 547.

Marquette took the girls’ match 2,126 to 1,841. Hall was led by Cherokee Gillispie (268).

Junior high

BVEC tournament: Bureau Valley South defeated DePue 51-42 in the BVEC finals in Ladd. Jake Smith had 24 points and Colby Wittig added 15. DePue was led by Carlos Acosta (12) and Isaac Reyes (11).

BV North downed Bradford 47-34 to take third place. Tyler Barnas had 27 points for North.

The Princeton High School Tigers beat the Rock Falls Rockets Wednesday 66-55 during sectional play at Byron. The Tigers will now play the undefeated Winnebago Indians at 7:30 p.m. Friday for the sectional championship.
