Midland holds off Bruins

Midland showed why it was awarded the top seed in this week’s Tri-County Conference boys’ basketball tournament by defeating St. Bede 63-51 Friday in Varna.

The Bruins overcame a 21-12 first quarter deficit to tie the game in the third quarter. Adam Varvil hit a three to get the ball rolling for the T-Wolves. Varvil finished with 27 points.

Evan Duttlinger led the Bruins with 11 points and Paul Perona added eight.

Marquette 71, DePue 30: Gerding scored 24 points to carry the Crusaders to victory Friday at DePue. Tony Cervantes scored eight points and Anthony Waites seven for the Little Giants.
