A poem
about dogs

Today I thought I’d do a poem, and what better to write about than dogs? I used to be all into cats, but I think dogs are more willing to get dirty and have fun these days. Of course, cats have their points too, but they just aren’t really my kind of animals. So anyway, I am going to write about dogs today. Enjoy!

I wake up in the morning and I can’t decide
Whether I want to go for a ride
Or just sit there and pant.

I know you’ll laugh and make a joke,
Then open a bottle of ice-cold coke
And go in the car by yourself.

So I will lie there and think about treats,
And dinners with lots of frozen meats
And wait for your return.

I jump up and sit there, begging for a walk,
But you don’t notice amid your talk
What I’m asking you to do.

When you finally catch on and go
I will run through the fresh-fallen snow
Happy and full of fun.

When I get home I smell in the air
That my dinner is inside there
So I ask to go in and eat.

I eat and enjoy every bite
Somehow life just feels so right
And then I curl up for a nap.

When I wake up you give me a command,
So I try my best to understand:
I did not miss one.

When at night I go outside,
Your face is in a smile so wide
I howl at the moon.

That’s the end of the poem. I hope you thought it was good, and I’ll just let you know, I took some of the things in there from experiences with Katie, our grandparents’ dog.
