Princeton takes two of three Big 14 titles
PRINCETON — Princeton Youth Football landed two out of three Big 14 Conference championships on their home turf Saturday at Bryant Field.
The seventh-grade held off Rockton 14-6 to finish the season 9-0. It marked the first time the tiny Tigers were scored upon this season, finishing out a 186-6 ledger.
Coach Bodie Smallwood said it was "18 players giving their best and doing the job that got us the championship."
Kylan Smith got the fireworks started early with a 65-yard opening kickoff return with Augie Christiansen taking in the two-point conversion.
Danny Cihocki added a one-yard TD run and made 10 tackles.
There was no suspense in the eighth-grade finals with Princeton blowing out Dixon 36-0. The Princeton eighths also finished the season 9-0, outscoring its opponents 354-14 on the year.
Princeton’s bid for a third championship came up short in the fifth grade with a 6-0 loss to Dixon.
Saturday’s other final saw Byron blitzed Morrison 40-6 for the sixth-grade title.
