MANLIUS — During the Jostens Renaissance Tour, Dr. Phil Campbell announced a school improvement contest that him and his wife, Dr. Tara Campbell, were hosting along with their book release, “Make It Reign.”
This book, from Renaissance Hall of Fame educator Dr. Phillip Campbell and Dr. Tara Campbell, is a compilation of tried and true fundraisers for supporting Renaissance activities, with the added benefits of creating traditions, improving school spirit, and building relationships with the community. Includes checklists and how-to guides for large fundraising events.
Schools entered throughout the school year with Twitter posts of their school improvement ideas. The grand prize winner would receive $1,500 for their school improvement project, a visit from Dr. Phil Campbell, and a video documentary of their school.
Bureau Valley High School Renaissance was announced the winner of this contest and has been busy at work with school improvement projects. BVHS Renaissance has remodeled the staff lounge with new tables, chairs, dishes, decorations and more. Renaissance is also busy at work redoing all of the room number signs and adding quotes above the lockers. There are also full-length mirrors ordered for the girls’ restrooms, plans to add more vinyl decals in the front entrance, and a few other projects in the works.
Phil and Tara Campbell visited Bureau Valley High School on May 9 and 10 shooting video footage for the documentary. Video footage of school improvement projects and interviews of students, teachers and administration will be included in the video.
