Prior to the start of the new school year at Putnam County High School in Granville, Princeton artist Bart Kassabaum of B.L. Kassabaum Artist’s Gallery restored the gymnasium’s mural of the team’s mascot that he originally painted in 1981. PCHS Principal Clayton Theisinger said it was badly deteriorated and that a recent graduate who was working at the school over the summer recognized the artist’s name at the bottom of the mural. After Kassabaum was contacted, the artist spent about four days restoring the work with acrylics. Kassabaum also restored the panther mural above the bleachers as well, although the original artist for that mural is unknown. “These murals have become a part of the school’s history, and it’s important we honor that for our current students,” Theisinger said.
