OZARK, Ark. — An Ozark, Ark., man has been charged with murder in the second degree following a fight that resulted in the death of former Spring Valley resident Tage McFadden.
Ozark Chief of Police Jim Noggle said McFadden, 26, was found beaten and unresponsive in the parking lot of an Ozark bar around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Noggle said McFadden was taken to Mercy Hospital/Turner Memorial in Ozark, and then transferred to the Northwest Regional Medical Center to be seen by a neurosurgeon. McFadden was pronounced dead at the Medical Center by Washington County Deputy Coroner John Parsons at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Charged in McFadden’s death is James R. Brownell, 33, of Ozark. Noggle said Brownell said the quarrel between the two men began earlier in the evening at the Speakeasy, a bar and club in Ozark, and later resumed outside. Brownell said the men had fought earlier, and that once outside, he punched McFadden once in the face and knocked him out.
Brownell was arraigned and charged with murder in the second degree. He is free on a $30,000 bond.
