PRINCETON — Amber Harper, president of the Bureau County Retired Teachers Association, invites all retired teachers living in Bureau County to attend the Thursday, May 16, meeting of the BCRTA at the Princeton Public Library. The meeting will begin at noon with a catered luncheon, prepared by Poor Boys’ Catering of Princeton, for a nominal cost of $11 per person. The menu will be barbecue meatballs, macaroni salad, sheet cake, tea and lemonade. The program for the meeting will be presented at approximately 12:30 p.m. by Nevana Ahrends.
Ahrends is beginning her second year as the IRTA State Board Area 1 Region 7 director. She is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University with her degree in music education, teaching general music, band and chorus for 38 years for K-8. She became her local unit president in 2014 and received Unit Honoree at the IRTA State Convention in 2017. She stays active in multiple organizations and continues to judge IESA music and speech contests. She is the mother of five children and 13 grandchildren. Every Sunday morning you will find her playing services for two different churches.
Participants, who may attend either the luncheon and the program or just the program, may also invite a retired colleague to attend. Spouses are always welcome.
