Gladys Van Norden

LAMOILLE — Gladys M. (Schwingle) Van Norden, 83, of LaMoille passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, in her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 20, 1936, in LaMoille to Frank and Esther (Wade) Schultz.

She was a 1954 graduate of LaMoille High School. She worked as a waitress for several restaurants during her life, was a school bus driver for many years and was head cook at LaMoille Allen Grade School.

She was a member of Community United Methodist Church and Mendota Elks Lodge.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Bill) Bradley of LaMoille; two sons, Jim (Sue Wagner) Schwingle and Dave (Mary Anne) Schwingle, both of LaMoille; a sister, Audrey Barlow of LaMoille; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and the father of her children, Eugene Schwingle; her second husband, Leonard Ward; her third husband, Carol Van Norden; and her sister, Betty Oberschelp.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Community United Methodist Church in LaMoille with the Rev. David Jungnickel officiating. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery in La­Moille.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Community United Methodist Church, LaMoille Fire and Ambulance, LaMoille-­Clarion Public Library or the National Kidney Foundation.

The Lundquist-Merritt Funeral Home in LaMoille is handling arrangements.
