PRINCETON — The Bureau County Chorus and the Princeton Community Band will be performing a joint Christmas concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, in the Princeton High School auditorium.
The Bureau County Chorus, under the direction of Mary Kiefer and accompanied by Charlie Gebeck, will sing a number of Christmas tunes, both classic and modern. Their program includes “And The Glory of the Lord,” “African Noel,” “In The Bleak Midwinter,” “Gettin’ In The Mood (for Christmas),” “The Twelve Days After Christmas,” “Silver Bells,” “Hanerot Halalu” and “Silent Night.”
The Princeton Community Band, under the direction of Ann Lusher, will be performing an assortment of Christmas music including “We Need A Little Christmas” from the Broadway musical ‘Mame,’ arranged by Ted Ricketts, “Here Comes Santa Claus,” arranged by Paul Murtha, “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers,” arranged by John Morrissey, “French Christmas Carol Fantasy,” arranged by James Curnow, which is based on Angels We Have Heard On High, and a unique musical setting titled “Celtic Holy Night,” arranged by Robert W. Smith.
The concert will conclude with a combined number, performed by the band and chorus together, titled “It’s The Holiday Season,” arranged by Roger Emerson and John Moss.
The concert is free, however donations will be gratefully accepted. Princeton Community Band is a Not-for-Profit, 501(c)(3) organization.
