Lady Bruins turn away Marquette

Friday night basketball roundup

The St. Bede Lady Bruins turned away Ottawa Marquette for a 46-40 nonconference victory at Abbott Vincent Gymnasium on the campus of St. Bede Monday night.

Up 12-11 after one quarter, St. Bede extended its lead to 28-18 at intermission and 40-28 after three quarters. Marquette cut its deficit in half, by outscoring St. Bede 12-6 in the fourth quarter, but came up short.

Renn Ludford had 14 points and Kassidy Brady 12 for the Lady Bruins (2-15), each hitting a couple of 3-pointers.

Earlville 67, LaMoille-Ohio 40: The Lady Raiders outscored their hosts 20-6 in the fourth quarter to pull away to victory in Little Ten Conference play Monday night at LaMoille.

Kylee Brown led L-O with 12 points with Cassidy Geiger adding nine and Ki'Ayana Moore eight.

Peoria Heights 41, DePue 16: Julie Perez scored nine points for the Lady Giants at home Monday.

Boys basketball

Sterling Newman outscored the St. Bede Bruins 18-7 in the fourth quarter to pull away to a 65-46 victory in TRAC East play Friday night in Sterling.

Newman led 16-10 at the end of the first quarter and 32-22 at the half.

Paul Hart and Gunar Jauch each scored 17 for the Bruins.

Devon House led the Comets with 28 points, including three 3-pointers. Marcus Williams added 21 points.

Kewanee 80, Bureau Valley 47: Kewanee boiled over the Storm at Brockman Gymnasium in TRAC East play Friday night.

The Boilermakers led 45-26 at halftime and 71-37 after three quarters.

Sophomore Adam Johnson and senior Dalton Dean each scored seven points for the Storm.

Kewanee's Kavon Russell took game honors with 19 points.

Kewanee won the sophomore game 41-30.

Peoria Christian 71, DePue 39: The Chargers outscored the Little Giants 37-15 in the second half to win going away in Peoria Friday night.

Oscar Ramirez had 14 points and Mario Quintana eight for DePue (6-7, 1-2).

The DePue JV used a 19-2 run in the fourth quarter to post a 41-34 win.
