Tigers upset state-ranked Kewanee

Tuesday night regional roundup

The Princeton Tigers are one win away from coming home.

The Tigers upset 2A No. 5-ranked Kewane 60-56 in Tuesday's regional semifinals at Chillicothe IVC.

Senior forward Wyatt Davis led PHS with 22 points. Jamie Reinhardt added 19 points and Brayden DeBates had 11.

With the win, the Tigers (16-14) advance to Friday's championship game awaiting the Wednesday's winner between No. 4 seed IVC and No. 5 seed Fieldcrest (23-6). The Tigers can punch their return ticket home to next week's Princeton Sectional with another upset win.

Kewanee is the TRAC East champion, defeating Princeton twice this month.

At Winnebago (2A): Hall beat Byron 62-54 in its regional opener Tuesday. The Red Devils (19-13) will face El Paso-Gridley (20-8), which beat Mendota 58-21 in Tuesday's opener.

At Granville (1A): St. Bede moved on for another day, but DePue saw its season come to a close in the first night of the Putnam County Regional.

The Bruins rolled to an 82-61 win over Midland. The Bruins were led by Paul Hart with 27 points, Gunnar Jauch with 20 points and Nathan Potthoff with 14 points.

Gardner-South Wilmington beat DePue 69-31 in Tuesday's opener.

St. Bede (12-20) and GSW (16-12) will meet in Wednesday's semifinals at 7:30 p.m. following the Putnam County (12-19) vs. Yorkville Christian (21-10) game.

At Polo (1A): LaMoille-Ohio advanced with a 61-59 win over Ashton-Franklin Center, its third win of the year over the Raiders.

The No. 5 seeded Lions (18-12) will face No. 3 Pecatonica (21-9) at 7:30 p.m. in Wednesday's semifinals.
