Arthur Kuhl

PUTNAM — Arthur Ellsworth Kuhl, 73, of Putnam passed away at 3:35 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

Art was born May 25, 1946, in Spring Valley to Wilbur and Betty (Long) Kuhl Sr. He married Jo Ellen Real on Oct. 3, 2008. She survives.

Art had served his country in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. He had worked for the Elmer Knapp Farms for several years. He then went on to work in construction with Laborers Local #422, groundskeeper at J & L steel and served as road commissioner for Senachwine Township for 13 years. He last worked for Pavement Maintenance Services, Henry. He retired from there after 19 years.

He was a lifetime member of Henry VFW Post 555, where he served as commander from 2000 to 2001. He also was a member of the American Legion in Henry.

His passions were fishing, traveling the countryside, his beloved pets, and spending time with his friends and family.

Also surviving are his children, Charles Cooke of Princeton, his children, Harley and Jaydon; Kimberly (Thomas) Wallace of Tiskilwa, their children, Victoria and Abigeal; and Dawn Ziano of Putnam. Jo Ellen’s children, David Real of Crestview, Fla.; Amanda (Jason) Humphreys of Phoenix, Ariz.; Diana (Jose) Sanchez of Crestview, Fla., their children, Alyska Real, Lacey Real and Evan Sanchez; Alissa (Steven) Scheel of Henry, their children, Dylan Real, Khloe Gobert and Owen Scheel. Also surviving is one brother, William (Donna) Kuhl of Magnolia; five sisters, Linda (Randy) Holdcraft of Lacon, Mary (Michael) Serpette and Helen Bogner, both of Henry, Patsy Merdian of Toluca and Marjorie Smith of Minier; special friends, Victoria and James Swanson of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his four dogs, Brady, Brody, Rani and Henry, whom he loved very dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wilbur Kuhl Jr.; one daughter, Jill Elizabeth Kuhl; and one son, Arthur E. Kuhl III.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, at the Putnam Christian Church in Putnam with Pastor Terry Broady officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Putnam Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded. A lunch to follow at the Henry American Legion.

Memorials may be made to the immediate family.
