A message from my heart — thank you to so many people

As a public service, Perry Memorial Hospital & Shaw Media have partnered to provide open access to information related to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) emergency. Sign up for the newsletter here

The act of social distancing is an act of love for our communities. To help us stay connected, we invite you to engage in the act of creation and thanks.

You are invited to:

• Create a heart.

• Display your heart on your front door, in a nearby tree or in your window to share with the world.

• Make a yard sign that simply says, “Don’t Give Up.”

• Send a personal handwritten note in the shape of a heart to someone you know with your thoughts, thanks and appreciation. (We have checked with our local health department and have been told that this is a safe thing to do).

• Brainstorm with your kids about ways to create pictures, etc. to make and send to others.

To help us stay connected with others in our community, we have reached out to some groups we think would love to receive a “message from my heart” and they have agreed.

Seniors in our community can be reached through the Bureau County Senior Center. Address: Bureau County Senior Center, 16 W. Marion St., Princeton, IL 61356.

They will work to get messages to nursing homes as well. Personalize when needed.

Individuals with disabilities can be reached through Gateway Services. Address: Gateway Services Inc., Attn: Tracy Wright, P.O. Box 535, Princeton, IL 61356. Personalize when needed.

Firefighters, police and city hall workers who collect our garbage and maintain city services can be reached at city hall. If you know them personally, add their name to the envelope.

If not, indicate if it is for fire fighters, police, etc. Address: Princeton City Hall, Attn: Theresa Wittenauer, 2 S. Main St., Princeton, IL 61356.

Local business — Use your imagination here. A word of thanks, a heart left on a window are just a couple of ideas.

And if you are a tech-savvy person, we will soon have something available for you to share your “messages from my heart.”

Let your creativity and thankfulness flow, and have fun along the way!

And from my heart to yours: Thanks for helping us reconnect with each other with Messages From My Heart.
