PRINCETON — There will be no swimming at the Alexander Park Swimming Pool this year.

According to a news release from Elaine Russell, executive director of the Princeton Park District, the decision was made at the park board's May 18 meeting not to open the pool for the 2020 season.

A discussion took place on the pros and cons of opening Alexander Park Swimming Pool for the summer season of 2020. After much discussion by the board and staff, a motion was made by Commissioner Abbie Cochran to sadly close Alexander Pool for the 2020 season due to COVID-19 and also following the guidelines of the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Board President Andy Marti and Commissioners Dennis Nink, Bob Halberg and Brandon Nyman all agreed, indicating they all look forward to a brighter outcome for the 2021 summer pool season.
