Duane and Mary Ann Smith will celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Duane Smith of Princeton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Duane Smith and the former Mary Ann Marsh were married June 20, 1970, in Dexter, Iowa.

Duane was employed by USDA Rural Development as an assistant district director. He retired in 2011. Mary Ann was employed by Bureau Valley High School as a science teacher. She retired in 2012. The couple are part of the First Lutheran Church leadership and choir. Duane volunteers with the Bureau County Senior Center food program, and Mary Ann volunteers at the Princeton Public Library and is an active member of Bureau County Retired Teachers Association. They both enjoy gardening and are members of Garden Friends Garden Club.

The couple has three children, Katie (Greg) Labuda of Hartford, Wis., Elizabeth Dieng of Mount Prospect and Alex Smith of Prince­ton. They also have three grandchildren, Audrey and Ben Labuda of Hartford, Wis., and Ami Dieng of Mount Prospect.

The couple will celebrate with a family gathering, hosted by their daughter, Elizabeth Dieng.
