Illinois reported 14 deaths from COVID-19 on Monday, and 738 new cases of COVID-19, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

A total of 26,918 people were tested in the previous 24 hours. The state’s seven-day positivity rate is at 2.7%.

The state now has seen 142,461 cases of the virus and 6,902 people have died since the pandemic began. A total of 1,571,896 people have been tested. The state also is reporting 1,053 probable cases and 201 probable deaths because of COVID-19.

As of Sunday night, Illinois had 1,501 COVID-19 patients in the hospital, an increase of 37 patients from the previous 24 hours. Of those currently hospitalized, 372 were in the ICU and 187 were on ventilators. Both of those are the lowest numbers since IDPH started tracking that data, and it is the second straight day that Illinois has fewer than 200 COVID-19 patients on a ventilator.

Fourteen deaths announced is the fewest deaths announced by the state since March 30, when seven were announced.
