Bureau County reports second COVID-19 death

The Bureau, Putnam and Marshall County Health Department reports that a man in his 60's has become Bureau County’s second COVID-19 related death.

Public health officials were notified of the death, according to state and local public health protocols.

“It is with deep sadness that we report this information today,” said Hector Gomez, health department administrator. “At this point, it is not possible to overemphasize the importance of physical distancing and other simple precautions for persons of all ages. We all need to work together to protect all of the residents of our counties.”

There have been 38 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the counties served by the Bureau, Putnam and Marshall County Health Department. Bureau County has had 29 confirmed cases. Marshall County has had eight confirmed cases. Putnam County has had one confirmed case. The first case was reported in Marshall County on March 23.

Four new cases were reported in Bureau County today.
